our Vasavi Community had decided to perform Vasavi Pooja and wanted to spread the word by communicating to the other friends in our community. Five families were Rajender Peddi, Gourish Srirangam, Raghu Gundalahalli, Ravi Vempati and Venkat Pasumarthi. These families started collecting the contact information of the families from our community to invite them to the planned pooja. The place and day was decided. The place was Sharadamba Shringeri Temple and the day was May 12, 2011.
About 25 families attended the first Vasavi Jayanthi conducted in Canada. We believe that this is the first ever program in Canada for our community. This was a great success to our community and proved that the families are interested to have more gatherings of this kind. Five families were involved in arrangements for the first event and were thankful to our friends to make it a grand success. We had a small introduction session after lunch in the temple so that we know each other. We had some suggestions from the families to have more events of this kind.
As a result of suggestions and interest shown from our friends, we conducted a family picnic in the month of August. Again we got good support from everyone and we had more Members to make it a success. Also we have conducted Samoohika Satyanaryana Vratham. (Group of Families) in Karthika Masam, November, 2011. About 20 families attended the Vratham and had good support from the members. By the grace and blessings of Vasavi Matha, there were 3 successful events in the year 2011, which gave us confidence to conduct the events for our community every year. We believe that the community events will help us to get more closer to share our thoughts and energies to help us in our professional and personal lives. Also we will be able to preserve our cultural and traditional background to pass on to our youth.
With the blessings from Vasavi Maatha, the group decided to do Praana Prathishta of Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Devi in 2014. Many Vasavites united for the cause and donated their Time and Money generously for the cause. You can see the list of here
We brought the Idol from India and performed Praana Prathishta Brantford Hindu Templeat in Ontario. With Vasavi Maatha blessings, We proudly say that this is the first Panchaloha Idol of Vasavi Maatha in Canada.
